What LegitScript certification actually costs.
Two published fees, both per website: $975 to apply (nonrefundable, charged before you see the questionnaire) and $2,150 per year once certified, auto-renewing on your anniversary. The real cost question is everything around those numbers: multiple domains, expedited processing, the readiness work, and the price of applying before you’re ready.

Where the money actually goes
The fees are the smallest cost
The application fee buys a review, not an approval. If an analyst finds equivalence claims, missing disclosures, or barrier-tier products, you spend the same money and get deficiency letters instead of a certificate, and a withdrawn or denied application doesn’t refund. The expensive version of certification is the one attempted before the site was ready.
The cheap version is sequenced: fix the website first (a readiness scan takes a minute and the common findings take days, not months, to fix), assemble the documents from the pre-application checklist, then pay once and give the analyst nothing to find. Expedited processing only makes sense in that world too, since it moves a complete application up the queue rather than rescuing an incomplete one.
Budget past the certificate as well: certification is a monitored status with an annual renewal, discipline reporting, and the ongoing claims discipline the standards require. It’s the entry ticket to healthcare payments and advertising, and the ticket has a yearly price.

- Is the LegitScript application fee refundable if I'm rejected?
- No. The application fee is nonrefundable whether you're approved, denied, or withdraw, which is the financial argument for a readiness pass before applying: problems you fix before paying cost nothing.
- How does LegitScript renewal billing work?
- Certification renews annually on your certification anniversary and auto-charges the card on file unless you cancel at least five business days before the anniversary. Renewal notices start about 60 days ahead; calendar the date so the charge never surprises finance.
- What does expedited processing cost, and is it worth it?
- Expedited processing is an optional added fee that moves your application up the queue; it does not shorten the review itself. It's worth considering when the queue is long and your submission is genuinely complete, and wasted money on an application that will draw deficiency questions anyway.
- What costs does certification NOT include?
- The fees buy the review, not readiness: fixing website findings, assembling licensure and state-compliance documentation, and any catalog changes are your costs before applying. Ad platforms may also run their own certification steps after LegitScript, and payment processing is underwritten separately.
